Happy Halloween!

I spent the majority of last week preping for Friday night’s somewhatlastminute Halloween party. The theme (started by Rachel) the past couple of years has been a kind of costume orgy where everyone brings two dressup items to swap.

I was pretty excited to contribute my excellent collection of bad polyester that I acquired in HS.

It goes without saying that by the end of the evening the combinations become weirder and everyone starts to leave when Jason puts on his shortshorts.

Sunday started out with an ‘oshit does the clock move forward or back an hour’moment. Thankfully, I lucked out and had plenty of time to get ready for the cross race and hit up Beaners for some excellent coffee (stay away from the Michigan Cherry.. it’s gross). I was grateful that Andy Klumb offered to drive his Tonka Truck which had plenty of space for applying warmup oils and other various ointments supplied by Rachel to protect again the colddddd. The race was difficult and I thought about riding in my socks about half way through after my cleats picked up 5lbs of dirt/grass/etc.. Oyeah, some jerk stole my (jason’s) gloves.

Later that evening as I was playing with the puppy, we ended up butting heads and I messed up my nose. I don’t think it’s broken but it hurt so much on Monday that I went home early from work and slept all day.

I can never look at bananas the same way.

There really isn't anything to say about my race this weekend.. other than I sucked. It was kind of like the one time I tried skiing and tried to superman it off the lift, except I wasn't hungover. My sincere apologies to the 3 people I crashed.

I was all hopped up on caffeine though which was a rather interesting experience. I had difficulty concentrating and felt like I had ADD. It did get better once I started racing and my body started to catch up w/ my heart rate.

Rachel tho, did have an awesome race! Way to kick some asssssssssss!

I'm having a party on Friday, you better come.

Shoes

Today has not started very well. As I slipped on my brand new work shoes, I noticed that the pants I put on at 5:30 this morning were a bit short (exposing my ankles and blue hound dog socks.) I really didn’t have time to run back upstairs and change so I put on my haflingers and luckily found a pair of black socks in my car and headed out the door.

If the weather didn’t suck I could have totally worn these..

OR! If the weather sucked more I could have gone out with my new boots..

Instead I look European (but not in a good way)..

Awake and Clear.

I always find it challenging to wake up and work out, particularly after I’ve had a few the evening before. This is one of many things that my father and I have in common, so when I stumbled across a box of this in his room last week, my only thought was if orange-pineapple would tasted better than lemon-lime. I kind of figured that “Wake Up & Be Clear” was the breakfast version of Monster, so I pour the contents readily into a glass of water and watched it fizz and popaway. The drink itself tasted like a mixture between a tropical wine cooler and flour. I finished most of the glass and headed out on my run, feeling excited and alert. I wish I could say that I ran for 23 miles and dropped Jason but I only made it 40 minutes. The rest of the day I spent shopping (I swear I was speed walking) and hanging out with my cousins. I asked my father about the supplement later and he expressed some concern and told me that it was made with hGH. I guess I totally overlooked that part; I am sure they all say that but I swear I didnt mean to dope. I hope I don't get tested at Mark's race this weekend!
